What makes WRTune different from using OpenWRT directly? 🔗

WRTune provides a user-friendly interface for tasks that are otherwise complex in OpenWRT. Device management, traffic monitoring, and system health are all accessible without needing to dive into command-line configurations.

Do I need to install extra packages for WRTune to work? 🔗

No. WRTune runs out of the box with a vanilla OpenWRT installation. There’s no need to install additional packages — just connect your router and start managing it through the app. Optional packages (nlbwmon, vnStat, etherwake, AdGuard Home) enhance specific features but are not required.

How secure is WRTune? Does it collect my data? 🔗

WRTune prioritizes your privacy. The app communicates locally with your router. Your sensitive network data, traffic, and credentials never leave your local network — they are not sent to the cloud.

Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are opt-in only.

How does WRTune handle blocking devices? 🔗

WRTune asks for permission to create firewall rules. Instead of adding one MAC address at a time haphazardly, WRTune organizes all rules under a clean, consistent prefix (wrtune_xxx). This keeps your firewall configuration tidy and easy to manage.

Is WRTune open source? 🔗

The app is licensed under GPLv3. I plan to open-source the core logic (API & networking) to support the community, while keeping the UI private to maintain the app’s visual identity.

How do I update the WRTune Engine after a router firmware upgrade? 🔗

After upgrading your router’s firmware, open WRTune and go to Settings → Permissions → Install WRTune Engine. The app checks the engine version and prompts you if an update is needed.
